A New Chapter: From Managing Director to Founder & Non-Executive Director.

A New Chapter: From Managing Director to Founder & Non-Executive Director

After more than a decade leading DM & Co., I’m proud to share that I’ve stepped into a new role as Founder and Non-Executive Director.

This isn’t a surprise to anyone close to the business - it’s the result of a strategic plan we’ve been enacting for the past 12 months.

The goal was simple: build a business that is strong, independent, and thriving without dependency on one individual - and we’ve done exactly that!

Since opening our doors, DM & Co. has grown into a 20+ team, recognised among the Top 2% of estate agencies in the UK. We’ve helped thousands of people move within and around Solihull, sold some of the region’s finest homes, and established ourselves as a trusted, community-focused brand.

We’ve faced challenges, learned from them, and built something that’s both resilient and agile. Our structure today reflects years of refinement, with a leadership team led by Lisa Smith who embodies the energy, ambition, and values of the business.

This transition to a non-executive role isn’t stepping back - it’s stepping up strategically.

It allows me to focus on the bigger picture, support Lisa Smith and the senior team, and continue guiding DM & Co. toward its next phase of growth and innovation.

This change also comes after a year of personal reflection. Turning forty, getting married, and losing both my dad and grandad have been huge milestones that have reshaped my perspective.

I’ve realised that growth, both personal and professional, comes from change and that change is good.

This transition gives me the opportunity to apply what I’ve learned over the past twelve years to a wider set of ventures and projects that I’m deeply passionate about.

Moving forward, my focus will increasingly be on murfo - the group of companies that brings together my work across property, technology, design, and development.

murfo represents the next evolution of everything I’ve built so far. A platform for creating, investing, and collaborating on exciting projects across the UK.

It’s about bringing together talented people, great ideas, and the kind of entrepreneurial energy that drives progress.

Through murfo, I’ll also be working with other estate agency owners and entrepreneurs, providing consultancy support to help them scale, restructure, and future-proof their businesses.

The lessons learned at DM & Co. - the importance of leadership, culture, and clarity of vision - are exactly what I’m now helping others to build.

DM & Co. is in the strongest position it has ever been. The business is solid, the team exceptional, and the brand established. I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved or more confident in the people driving it forward.

As for me, my role is changing, but my passion for this industry and for building businesses that last is as strong as ever.

This is not the end of an era. It’s the continuation of one and the start of another.
